Our Mission
The mission of The Key Clubhouse of South Florida is to afford people whose lives have been disrupted by mental illness the opportunity to recover meaningful and productive lives through reintegration in the workplace and the community.
Our Goal
Our goal is a high quality of life for all members, ongoing improvement and the ultimate elimination of stigma associated with mental illness.

The Key Clubhouse of South Florida is a membership-based community where people living with persistent mental illness come to rebuild their lives. The Clubhouse provides an accepting place to spend the day, participate in valuable work that supports the Clubhouse operations, socialize with friends and co-workers and gain access to transitional and supported employment within the community. Membership is for life and provides ongoing support.

The Key Clubhouse of South Florida was founded in 2008 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization by parents of dependent adult children living with mental illness and consumers. We became frustrated by the lack of good recovery and rehabilitation services available to people living with mental illness in Miami-Dade County.

While researching mental health recovery programs, we learned about the Clubhouse model developed by the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD).We made a trip to see Vincent House, an ICCD-certified Clubhouse in Pinellas Park, Florida.  We were impressed with the quality of services provided and its success in transforming the lives of its members.

Four of us then participated in a two-day training on “New Clubhouse Development” sponsored by the ICCD. After this training, we decided to move forward to plans to open an ICCD Clubhouse in Miami-Dade County.

As we brought our idea to the community, we met more and more people who thought a Clubhouse was exactly what was needed. Thanks to many supporters and friends, the Key Clubhouse is now a reality!
